Finding out that my blog has been recognized by Feedspot as one of the top 70 dementia blogs is a delightful surprise. This incredible honour fills me with excitement and gratitude. It also leaves me in a state of disbelief about how far this journey has come. I distinctly remember that first day I hit "publish," completely unaware that it would grow into a useful resource for so many facing the challenges of dementia.
This post aims to share my journey, celebrate this milestone, and inspire others to find their voice in the realm of dementia awareness and support.
The Inspiration Behind the Blog
My journey began with personal experiences and witnessing the challenges faced by others in the dementia community. My diagnosis of the Alzheimer's soon revealed the harsh realities: the painful moments of confusion, fleeting victories in daily conversations, and the immense strength displayed by family caregivers.
I wanted to create a supportive space for individuals to come together. To accomplish this, I dedicated time to research the latest studies, gather insights from experts, and connect with other people living with dementia, caregivers and advocates. This commitment allowed me to provide valuable resources and foster a stronger community.
The Road to Growth
In the beginning, I had no roadmap for building a successful blog. I wrote about what I felt, sharing stories and emotional reflections, and airing my views about some of the inequalities and problems I have encountered on my journey. However, growing an audience proved challenging. I engaged with various online communities, joined discussions on social media, and collaborated with fellow bloggers. Over time, my audience gradually grew—my blog's traffic increased by 150% within six months. Each engagement felt like a step forward, transforming my solitary writing into a vibrant community.
Some Key Lessons Learned
Authenticity Matters
Being genuine is vital. Readers truly appreciate honesty, especially on sensitive topics like dementia. By sharing my fears, triumphs, and relatable moments, I established connections that resonated deeply with my audience. For instance, openly discussing my feelings about losing precious moments with my loved one helped others feel understood and less isolated.
Community is Everything
Building a supportive online community has been essential. Actively engaging with readers through comments and emails and participating in online forums allowed me to form meaningful relationships. This turned my blog from a solitary venture into a powerful network of shared experiences and support.
Consistency is Key
Regularly publishing content helped maintain momentum. By establishing a content schedule, I tried to ensure that my readers always have fresh and relevant posts to look forward to. Consistency (with a few hiccups) has not only helped retain existing readers but also attracted new audiences.

The Recognition
When I learned my blog was selected as one of the top 70 dementia blogs globally, emotions flooded in—joy, pride, and validation. This recognition meant not just my voice but our collective experiences as people with lived experience were finally being acknowledged.
Beyond the celebration, the recognition may open more doors to collaborate with organizations making remarkable contributions to dementia research. I now connect with thought leaders and take part in advocacy initiatives that promote awareness and understanding.
What Comes Next?
With this recognition as a milestone, I am excited about the next steps for my blog.
Expanding Resources
If my condition allows, I plan to enrich the site , providing readers with a wealth of information that will enhance the value of the content and offer diverse perspectives.
Building a Support Network
Beyond digital content, my vision has always included establishing a tangible support network where people living with a dementia diagnosis can connect, share stories, and uplift each other through sharing coping strategies and general camaraderie. I started a forum for that very purpose, but so far have had limited success - Still. Perhaps things will change.
A Journey of Hope and Connection
This journey has been remarkable, and I am endlessly grateful to everyone who has been part of it. If there is one silver lining in navigating dementia, it is the unwavering strength of community. Through our shared stories, we can build deeper connections that bring hope and understanding.
Being recognized as a top dementia blog is just the beginning. Now, with this platform, I am eager to create a powerful resource for those affected by dementia. If you are living with a diagnosis, a
