How did it all start?

I've finally done it!

Well, after a couple of years of heartache and a mis-diagnosis of depression and anxiety, I was finally diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in January 2019 after the results of an MRI scan showed that I have shrinkage of the brain, especially in the areas of the hippocampus.

In a way, an actual diagnosis was a breath of fresh air to my wife Pam and I after years of not knowing what the problem was, and I vowed to be as productive and useful as I can possibly be in the time that is remaining to me.

Thank you for deciding to share your experiences of living with dementia. We need to banish the myths and fear that surround it so we can concentrate on making people live their lives to the full and make every minute count.
